What challenges were you facing?
I found myself in an awkward position graduating from college. After deciding not to pursue a teaching career with my degree in Classics, I struggled to begin a job search process I hadn’t prepared for.

Why did you choose to work with CareerAmplify?
I met one of the Founders at a fundraiser. Later we reconnected, and I began working for CareerAmplify as an intern. In the meantime, I continued to work at a local JCC in the gym and Membership departments.

What was the process?
Taking the experience I had gained from my personal interest in web development, I started work on our website and digital marketing efforts for CareerAmplify. As part of the process, I sat in on coaching sessions and learned job search fundamentals and best practices.

What helped you most?
I learned to utilize and employ the tools CareerAmplify gives its clients for myself, by strengthening my personal contacts to find full-time job opportunities. I also began to understand the importance of having a clear message and articulating my past experiences as they related to the job description.

What did you do differently as a result of the career coaching?
I became a better advocate for myself. I learned to follow-up, set timeframes and next steps with potential employers.

Any other outcomes you would like to share?
Certainly, in my experience, opportunity has repeatedly presented itself at unexpected moments. I think my willingness to keep learning and exploring opportunities to utilize my developing skills was important in my job hunt.
